Cristi Chivu, 45, has made history as the best coach in Serie A for the 2025-2026 season. After securing the league title and the Coppa Italia with Inter Milan, Chivu was recognized for his exceptional coaching abilities.
Chivu became the third Inter coach to win both the league title and the Coppa Italia in the same season. He also marked history as the first manager to achieve this feat in his debut season at the club. Returning to Milan in the summer of 2025, Chivu took over a challenging legacy from Simone Inzaghi, who left for Saudi Arabia.
Chivu's Impressive Debut Season
Despite initial skepticism about his ability to manage Inter through the season, Chivu excelled, leading the team to their 21st league title and winning the Coppa Italia. They defeated Lazio in the final held in Rome, with a score of 2-0.
Chivu's performance was so remarkable that the Italian press and jury awarded him the "Best Coach of Serie A" title. Only one round remains in the current season, with Inter set to face Bologna away on Saturday at 7 PM.
Chivu will receive his award before the match at the Renato Dall'Ara stadium.
Praising Chivu's Leadership
Luigi De Siervo, CEO of Lega Calcio Serie A, praised Chivu's leadership, stating, "His season with Inter was extraordinary. In his first professional season as a coach, Chivu displayed the winning mentality he possessed as a player (he won a treble in 2010, including the Champions League). He guided his players to play a solid yet proactive football, leading Inter to a goal difference of about 30 goals over the second-placed team."
Chivu needed only 48 matches in Serie A as a coach to become an Italian champion and achieved a historical double of league and cup titles in his first season with Inter. These records confirm Chivu's place among the great coaches in Serie A.
n-am văzut asta așa de departe, tbh. Inter era mai bine ca niciodată, iar Chivu a făcut o treabă minunată. sper că se pot menține pe această cale.
