US cyclist Chloé Dygert is set to make a significant career pivot, stepping away from European road racing to focus on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. According to journalist Daniel Benson, Dygert is close to signing a two-year deal with Virginia’s Blue Ridge-TWENTY28, a U.S. continental team.

The move would effectively pause her time in the Women’s WorldTour and allow her to concentrate on preparing for the home Games. Dygert's current contract with Women’s WorldTour squad Canyon-SRAM-Zondacrypto is set to expire this winter. Benson reported on his Substack page that a deal between Dygert and Team TWENTY28 is “on course,” though it has yet to be officially signed.

Virginia’s Blue Ridge-TWENTY28 is one of the oldest teams in U.S. cycling, having nurtured many of the nation's top female athletes. Dygert previously spent four seasons with the team before joining Canyon-SRAM in 2021. She remains connected to the squad through mutual coach Kristen Armstrong.

Highs and Lows in Europe

Dygert’s career has faced several challenges since joining Canyon-SRAM. She has dealt with serious injuries and health setbacks. Despite these obstacles, she has achieved significant success, including winning a second world time trial title. However, her time in Europe has also been marked by unfortunate setbacks, such as a crash during the world championship time trial defense.
