Chinese President Xi Jinping is reportedly set to visit North Korea next month to mediate between the country's leader Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump, according to South Korean news agency Yonhap, citing a government official. The timing of the visit is expected to be at the end of May or early June. Xi previously hosted Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing following his meeting with Trump.
Tramp Open to Meeting with Kim
Trump, who has met with Kim three times during his presidency to discuss North Korea’s nuclear program, said he would be open to another meeting with the North Korean leader, emphasizing that they have a good relationship.
China's Role in Mediation
The South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that they hope the exchanges between North Korea and China will contribute to peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and that China can play a constructive role. However, they declined to directly comment on the reports of Xi’s visit. China remains a key economic and political ally of North Korea.
This could be a game-changer for the region, but can Xi really make a difference? Let's hope he brings some positive change. What do you think, fellow fans?
