Challenges on Transfăgărășan: Snow and Landslides Hinder Road Clearing

Representatives from the Regional Road and Bridge Directorate (DRDP) of Brașov announced on Tuesday that the snow clearance operation on the Transfăgărășan has reached its most challenging point, the largest avalanche corridor on the route. In this area, the snow layer is up to 5 meters thick and is full of landslides caused by avalanches.

The goal of the road workers is to clear the road by mid-June to allow it to be reopened to traffic. "Despite these challenges, we are advancing at a steady pace with heavy machinery, with the goal of clearing the road by the middle of June," the DRDP representatives stated on their Facebook page.
