CFR Cluj is entering into crucial negotiations with two key players, Mihai Popa and Sheriff Sinyan, who are at risk of leaving the club at the end of the season. Iuliu Mureșan, president of the Ardeal club, discussed the situation under the leadership of Daniel Pancu (48 years old), who has guided the team to secure European cup spots. The club is now facing a period of intense transfer activity, where new arrivals will come alongside departures of players who have not excelled.
Two players, Mihai Popa (25 years old) and Sheriff Sinyan (29 years old), are particularly important to the club, and Mureșan is working to retain them. Both players' contracts expire on June 30, 2026. Mureșan is in talks with their agents to find a solution to keep the two players at the club.
“Sinyan is not a closed case, but the chances are higher that he will leave. However, we have a problem with Mihai Popa, the goalkeeper, who has a contract until June 30, and I would like him to stay. We have been in discussions with him and will continue to talk this week,” Mureșan said in an interview with Fanatik.
Mihai Popa returned to CFR Cluj from Torino at the beginning of the year, and he has made 19 appearances since his winter return, keeping eight clean sheets. Sheriff Sinyan, signed last year, has played in 44 matches and scored four goals. The club is also exploring the possibility of selling Lorenzo Biliboc, who is valued at 1.2 million euros according to Transfermarkt, to balance their budget.
“We will have to sell to secure our budget. We have questions about Biliboc, but nothing is concrete yet. We are feeling out the market,” Mureșan added.
CFR Cluj is on the brink of losing two crucial players! Can they manage to keep Mihai Popa and Sheriff Sinyan? This could be the difference between making it to the European cups and falling short. What do you think, will they find a solution?
