An international open water marathon swimming event will take place in Burgas on July 11, 2026, organizers have announced. The event will start at the "Saxa" restaurant on the Northern Beach in the seaside city. The organizers are world champion in winter swimming Tzanko Tzankov and the "Pobeda" swimming club.

This year's edition will be the sixth consecutive marathon, marking the first time the race will be held at a new location. Previously, all five editions were held in the area of the Seaside Station, but this time participants will swim directly in open water.

The competition will offer two distances: 50.0 and 1,000 meters, open to both professional swimmers and amateurs.

"For several months, we have been working on organizing the upcoming swimming marathon. What is interesting is that we have already received inquiries from swimmers from Germany, Sweden, Hungary, Russia, Ukraine, North Macedonia, Turkey, and other countries, even though we have not yet opened the registration form, which we will do today. This year's marathon will have a new route and easier access for everyone. We have prepared two distances, attractive prizes, specially designed medals for participants, and monetary rewards for the best competitors. Anyone who wishes to participate, whether they are beginners or experienced swimmers, can register on our website burgasmaraton.com," said Tzanko Tzankov.

The sporting event is open to children over the age of 10. Organizers have also provided distinctions for veteran swimmers and people with disabilities.
