Bulgarian Football Legend Todor Yanchev Celebrates 50th Birthday
Today marks the 50th birthday of Todor Yanchev, the selector of Bulgaria's U21 national team. Born on May 19, 1976, in Kazanlak, Yanchev began his career in youth formations at Rozova Dolina in his hometown before transitioning to the professional ranks with Neftohimik.
Yanchev's greatest achievements came with CSKA Sofia, where he served as captain for many years. He played 383 matches across all competitions, scoring 32 goals, and holds the record for the most appearances for the club in European club tournaments with 49 matches. With CSKA, Yanchev won three Bulgarian league titles (2003, 2005, and 2008), two Bulgarian Super Cups (2 008 and 2011), and one Bulgarian Cup (2011).
Internationally, Yanchev played 18 matches for the Bulgarian national team. Since last autumn, he has been the selector for the U21 national team. The Bulgarian Football Federation and Sportal.bg extend their best wishes to Yanchev on his birthday, wishing him health, happiness, and continued success in both his professional and personal life.
Todor Yanchev has been a true legend on the pitch and now off it too! It's amazing to see how he's contributed to Bulgarian football both as a player and now as a selector. Can anyone else think of a better way to celebrate 50 years on the field than by still being so involved in the game?
