Bulgarian Classical Wrestlers Finish 6th at European Championships in Samokov

The Bulgarian national team in classical wrestling wrapped up their performance at the European Championships for boys in Samokov with a 6th place finish in the team standings.

In the final day of the championships, Kamnen Borgodzijski came close to winning a medal, finishing 5th in the category up to 85 kg. The Bulgarian wrestler had a strong performance in the repechage round, overcoming Armenian wrestler Arman Tovmasyan with a score of 6:4. However, he failed to win in the small final against Lithuanian wrestler Roxan Krezinauskas, losing with a technical fall score of 0:9.

This was Borgodzijski's biggest achievement to date and his first appearance at the European Championships. He was born in Rakovski and competes for the Plovdiv club Atletik.

The Bulgarian team, led by coaches Bisser Georgiev and Svetoslav Milenkov, secured a total of 79 points, including two silver medals won by Ognyan Burgazov (41 kg) and Kamnen Goranov (52 kg), and a bronze medal won by Robert Dimitrov (48 kg). Additionally, Ivan Alexandrov (38 kg) and Kamnen Borgodzijski (85 kg) finished 5th.

European Championships Team Standings

The Russian team secured the overall championship with 159 points, including four titles and three bronze medals. Georgia came in second with 129 points (2-1-3), and Turkey finished third with 127 points (2-0-3). Azerbaijan finished fourth with 94 points (2-0-0), and Armenia came in fifth with 87 points (0-1-3).
