Bulgaria Takes Early Lead in Varna

The Bulgarian junior rhythmic gymnastics team has seized the top spot in the team classification after the first two groups of the European Championships. The competition is taking place at the Varna Sports and Culture Palace, where the atmosphere is electric. Siana Alekova, Alexandra Petrova, and Dea Emilova combined for an impressive 102.250 points, establishing a narrow but significant lead. Ukraine sits in second place with 100.550 points, while Spain holds third with 94.050.

Strong Performances, Room for Improvement

The Bulgarian debutants delivered powerful routines, though not without minor setbacks. Alexandra Petrova, who performed first on the floor, recorded 22.950 points on the ball, including two drops. Her score broke down to 9.6 for difficulty, 6.450 for execution, and 6.900 for artistry. Currently ranked sixth on the ball, she faces an uphill battle to reach the top eight required for the apparatus finals.

Dea Emilova, however, produced the highest scores of the day so far. On the clubs, she achieved 25.850 points (10.5 difficulty, 7.800 execution, 7.600 artistry, with a 0.050 deduction). Her ribbon routine was even more dominant, earning 26.800 points with scores of 10.8, 8.100, and 7.900 respectively. Siana Alekova also shone with the hoop, securing a strong 26.650 points (11.1 difficulty, 7.850 execution, 7.700 artistry).

The Challenge Ahead

Despite the early lead, the competition is far from over. Two more groups remain, featuring powerhouse teams from Russia, Israel, Belarus, and Italy. These squads are expected to push the leaderboard further. The action continues with Group C starting at 15:30, and the first junior team medals will be awarded by 20:00. The Bulgarian trio must maintain their focus and precision to hold off the incoming challengers in this high-stakes European showdown.
