Jalen Brunson led the New York Knicks to a remarkable comeback victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first game of the Eastern Conference finals. The Knicks trailed by 22 points with under eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, but Brunson sparked a series of drives to the basket, leading the team to victory in overtime.

New York closed regulation on an 18-1 run and tied the game at 101-101 with 19 seconds left. In overtime, the Knicks opened with a 9-0 run, taking control as the crowd in Madison Square Garden erupted with excitement.

Brunson finished with 38 points, while Mikal Bridges added 18 points. Three Knicks players scored 13 points each, including OG Anunoby, who contributed nine of his points in overtime after a difficult return from a strained right hamstring.

Donovan Mitchell scored 29 points for the Cavaliers, but the team's late collapse cost them the game. Evan Mobley had 15 points and 14 rebounds, while James Harden also scored 15 points but struggled with shooting and turnovers.

"Just keep fighting," Brunson said. "We're not going to get it back in one possession."

The Knicks won their eighth straight game and are now just three wins away from their first NBA Finals appearance since 1999.
