Botev Plovdiv Accuses Mayor of Threatening Club's Future in efbet League

Botev Plovdiv has released a new statement regarding the ongoing conflict with the city administration and "Collegium." The club is alarmed, claiming that Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov is threatening the club's participation in the efbet League and has called on fans to attend the upcoming city council meeting on May 28.

Botev's Financial Concerns

In a letter to their supporters, the club wrote:

"On May 28, the city council in Plovdiv will discuss a proposal that directly affects the future of PFK Botev Plovdiv, our home, and the entire Botevist community. The proposal, if passed, would strip the club of control and use of commercial spaces, VIP areas, parking lots, fan shops, and the club museum. In essence, only the field and seats would remain, directly threatening the club's participation in the efbet League and the normal conduct of football matches.

This attempt places the club in full economic dependence, stripping it of the means to generate income necessary for stadium maintenance, supporting the base, developing youth schools, investing in the team, and ensuring a stable future. The club has invested significant resources in the stadium, including 840,000 euros per year for 'Collegium.'

The club also noted that on June 4, 2025, Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov publicly stated that the city would not manage the stadium, having already provided it to the football club. However, the current proposal represents a significant shift from that statement, raising questions about the motives behind this sudden attempt to control critical revenue sources and spaces.

Community Response

The club emphasized the importance of community support in maintaining the club's financial stability and called on all supporters to attend the city council meeting and voice their concerns. The club stated that when supporters unite, Botev Plovdiv thrives.

Botev Plovdiv is not just a football club; it is a symbol of the community's spirit and resilience. The club is determined to ensure that its future is not subject to administrative and economic control.
