A section of the bridge at the Gradiška border crossing with Croatia has collapsed, disrupting traffic and prompting an investigation by local authorities. The bridge, constructed in 1956, is a crucial link for the transport of goods and passengers between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, further into the European Union.

According to a report by N1 from Sarajevo, the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Banja Luka has requested a report from the police administration in Gradiška regarding this incident. Two meetings were held this morning: one by the Management Board of the Indirect Tax Administration of Bosnia and Herzegovina and another by the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Both meetings aimed to address the political deadlock and find a temporary solution by opening a new border crossing.

The reporter noted that the new border crossing remains closed due to the opposition from Zijad Krnić, a member of the Management Board of the Indirect Tax Administration, who has blocked the adoption of regulations that would allow the opening of the new crossing. This has further congested alternative routes.

Representatives from the Republic of Srpska and the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina highlighted that this is a typical political deadlock affecting not only the citizens of the Republic of Srpska and the Republic of Srpska, but also the entire country and those who frequently cross the border with Croatia.
