A gunman unleashed a deadly assault in Tarsus, a city in the southern Turkish province of Mersin, leaving at least five people dead and wounding six others before fleeing the scene. The incident occurred in the early afternoon and was captured on social media, including a video taken in front of the restaurant where the attack began.

According to local media, the assailant first killed his ex-wife, Arzu, before entering a restaurant where he shot the owner and an employee. He then proceeded to kill a shepherd and a truck driver. The number of victims has risen to six as one of the wounded individuals died later.

The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Metin Ozturk, is currently at large. Police have launched a significant manhunt with the support of helicopters. The motives behind the attacker’s actions remain unclear.
