Belgrade is set to embark on a major project with the construction of the Belgrade Aquarium at Ušće. The Ministry of Finance has initiated the process for this ambitious underground complex, which will encompass 45 aquarium cells, a rooftop botanical garden, and a rich array of visitor attractions. The future underwater oasis will be situated within the Friendship Park, adjacent to the Nikola Tesla Boulevard, with the goal of transforming the area into a new tourist and educational attraction for the city.

The facility will cover an area exceeding 7,000 square meters. Visitors will have access to an impressive aquarium tunnel, a conference hall, a souvenir shop, and commercial outlets. A circular tour route, approximately 400 meters long, will guide visitors through thematic zones such as the Black Sea, Mediterranean, Atlantic Ocean, caves, and an essential area featuring auklets.

The complex will feature 39 exhibition aquariums and six auxiliary reservoirs. The living exhibits will showcase diverse freshwater and marine species including sturgeons, sharks, murine, seahorses, rays, and auklets. State-of-the-art laboratories, veterinary facilities, quarantine areas for sick fish, a special zone for penguins, and advanced water filtration and recycling systems will provide logistical support.

Particular attention has been paid to the ecological landscaping of the area. The roof of the aquarium will become a public botanical garden with species characteristic of the Danube delta, and a new tree-lined avenue will be planted from Branko's Bridge to the complex. Parking will be provided in an underground garage connected to the nearby Natural History Museum.
