Belgrade will host one of the world's most prestigious sporting events, the IRONMAN 70.3 Belgrade 2026, on September 13, 2026. This international triathlon event is expected to draw over a thousand athletes, sports professionals, and enthusiasts from around the globe, reaffirming Serbia's capital as a key destination on the global map of top sports events.
A media conference was held to unveil the organization's plans, the event's significance for the city and the country, and expectations for the third IRONMAN 70.3 race in Belgrade. Participants included Darko Savić, President of the Organizational Board, Bojan Đurić, Race Director, Darko Glavaš, Secretary of the Secretariat for Defense, Emergency Situations, and Coordination of the City of Belgrade, Miodrag Popović, Director of the Belgrade Tourism Organization, and Lana Gavrilović, Serbia's top triathlete and event ambassador.
The speakers emphasized that the IRONMAN 70.3 race represents a significant step for local sports and a strong boost for sports tourism and international promotion of Belgrade. The event is expected to attract a large number of competitors and visitors from various countries, contributing to the city's tourism and economic activity.
President of the IRONMAN 70.3 Organizational Board, Darko Savić, highlighted that the event began as a dream in 2017 and has now become a reality. He noted that the number of participants is growing, with more than 1,000 already registered by the end of May, indicating that the race will likely reach its capacity by September 13.
Race Director Bojan Đurić stressed that the organizational team will conduct the event to the highest international standards, focusing on the safety of athletes, logistics, and the experience of all participants. He also emphasized the importance of the event for the city, noting that it has received exceptional support and partnership from the City of Belgrade.
Bojan Đurić also shared data indicating that the average triathlete stays for five days, bringing with them three to five people, significantly boosting tourism in the city.
