Beach Volleyball Tournament in Sveti Vlas Attracts 85 Teams from 28 Countries

The Beach Pro Tour Futures category tournament in Sveti Vlas will take place for the third consecutive year, bringing together 85 teams from 28 countries across three continents. The tournament, hosted by "Marina Dinevi Group" and supported by the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation, boasts an increased prize fund and will feature a record number of Bulgarian participants. The event was announced at a press conference held in the BTA press club by Iva Partaleva, a representative of the tournament organizers, and Lubomir Ganev, president of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation.

"I'm very happy that 'Dinevi Group' is hosting the tournament in Sveti Vlas for the third year in a row. This is a huge honor for Bulgaria. The entire environment is at a very high level—the quality of the sand, the view of the sea, and the accommodation. We provided targeted funding for beach volleyball for the first time. The goal is to create athletes who can earn a living from the sport. This tournament is an excellent opportunity for them to improve their rankings, which will allow them to have better draws in future tournaments," commented Lubomir Ganev.

"I thank the media and Lubo Ganev for their support and for doing everything possible to help us. Two years ago, when we started the tournament, we expressed a desire to attract more children and young people to beach volleyball. This year will see a record number of Bulgarian participants—out of 45 men's and 39 women's teams, we have eight male and five female pairs. There will be 170 competitors in total. Last year, there were participants from Mauritius, and this year, we will have teams from Argentina and Morocco," said Iva Partaleva.

"The sand from the tournament was sent to an independent laboratory in Canada, which confirmed its quality. We have the rating from a prestigious external source. Last year, the best Bulgarian pair—Dimitar Kalchev and Dimitar Mekandzhiev—finished third. We expect a similar performance this year. After participating in the Nations League, they are now ranked 94th in the world, and we expect this to change after Sveti Vlas," added Partaleva.

The prize fund for the tournament has been raised from €10,000 to €15,000, with €7,500 for both men and women. "The gold is in the sand. Recently, we have also arranged for coaches to travel with the athletes to tournaments. Until now, the development of beach volleyball was left to the athletes, which is not their responsibility. Things are starting to normalize," said Ganev.

The press conference was also attended by young volleyball players Alexander Tsenov and Boris Georgiev, who will participate as a pair in the tournament in Sveti Vlas. "At 16, I participated in the tournament in Sveti Vlas for the first time and have had wonderful experiences ever since. I finished fourth with my former partner, and I hope we can repeat the achievement. It's a unique tournament and resort," said Tsenov. "This is truly a festival for Bulgarian volleyball, a huge forum, and the organization is on a high level," added Boris Georgiev.

The top-ranked men's teams come from Hungary, while the women's top seed is Nadine Demyer and Livia Scholz from Switzerland. The tournament will take place between June 3 and 7, currently being played on two courts, with two more training courts under construction. The semi-finals and finals of the main draw will be broadcast on BNT 3.
