Asteri Swim Club Shines at Gran Prix in Burgas with 9 Medals

The swimmers from Varna's Asteri swim club performed brilliantly at the prestigious "Gran Prix Burgas" international swimming tournament, held from May 15 to 17 at the Park Arena Burgas complex. The competition served as an official qualification for achieving standards to participate in major swimming events, including European and World Championships, up until the end of 2026. In the men's 50m backstroke, Valentin Filipov came within a whisker of setting a new record, finishing with a time of 25.81 seconds, just behind the existing record of 25.70 held by Kaloian Lefterov. This result earned Filipov an unassailable gold medal.

Nikola Zdravkov clinched the title in the highly competitive 50m freestyle event, solidifying his position as the absolute national champion in freestyle among men. He also won a bronze medal in the 50m butterfly. Diana Nenova claimed a gold medal in the 50m breaststroke, a silver in the 50m freestyle, and a bronze in the 100m breaststroke. Ivanina Kirova secured two silver medals in the 100m freestyle and 200m combined swimming, as well as a bronze in the 50m freestyle.
