Anglers have flocked to Pomorie in recent days, drawn by the abundance of safri. From early dawn till late evening, the Old Town and the bridge are filled with people - men, women, even children, casting their lines and collecting their catch with a smile. Though small, the safri is plentiful this spring, and almost everyone leaves with a full basket.

Enthusiasts combine the enjoyment of time by the sea with the satisfaction of returning home with fresh fish for dinner. The excitement extends to the fish markets in Burgas, where a kilogram of safri sells for about 5 euros. The tasty Black Sea fish is among the most sought after at the moment, ideal for frying or grilling, says a merchant from Burgas' "Veleka" market.
