Ukrainian Angelina Kalinina or Croatian Petra Marcinkova will claim their first WTA 250 title in the final of the Rabat tournament, which takes place on Saturday. Both players have advanced to the final of the clay court tournament and have the opportunity to win the most prestigious accolade in their careers so far.

Semifinal Dominance

In the semifinals, Kalinina, ranked 84th in the world, was dominant against seventh-ranked Panah Uduwedi of Hungary, winning 6-0, 6-3 in just 61 minutes. Kalinina lost only eight points in the first set. In the second set, Uduwedi started better but lasted only until 2-2 games before being broken again, which decided the outcome of the match.

Tight Match for Marcinkova

More intrigue surrounded the second semifinal, where 76th-ranked Marcinkova defeated Swiss player Jil Teichmann 7-6(2), 6-3. Both players exchanged one break each until the middle of the first set, and no further breaks occurred until the end. In the tiebreaker, Marcinkova started much better, leading 4-1 points and never gave up the initiative, winning 7-2.

In the second set, Marcinkova led 5-1 games and, although she had a slight lapse, it did not cost her the match.
