The Serbian Superliga held a grand ceremony at Belgrade's "Ložionica" where the most deserving players of the 2025/26 season were awarded by coaches and captains of the domestic championship.
Aleksandar Katai stood out among all the recipients. He was named to the ideal team, declared the best player of the season, and received special recognition as the all-time leading scorer of the competition.
After the ceremony, he spoke to the media, emphasizing that none of this would be possible without his teammates and the entire team.
- Yes, this is primarily due to my long-term hard work. We always come back to this: it wouldn't be possible without the team, which I am very grateful for, because every team brings out the best in an individual. I cannot win a match alone; I want to thank them. Personally, this means a lot, but most importantly, it wouldn't have the weight without the double crown and title, without playing in Europe, and without these results. The season was successful, and this is another beautiful thing.
- Of course, I believe we have shown that. The first half of the season was turbulent, but we stabilized and played very good football in the second half. It's well-deserved that we have so many players in the ideal team.
- It wasn't the toughest season for me, despite the deficit in the first half compared to Partizan. The first half was tough, but the second wasn't. I think the toughest season was when we had a five-point deficit at halftime, that's my personal opinion. In the end, we finished with many more points ahead of Partizan and Vojvodina.
- I don't plan to stop, I have a contract for another year. What will happen after that, we will see. I am proud; I don't think I am aware of my personal results and records. Only when I retire will I realize how significant it is to be the second leading scorer in Red Star's history. So, I won't stop, and we'll see how far I can go.
- I am proud; once again, it shows my long-term hard work. I won't stop; this is an encouragement to work harder and better. Next season, I can't promise anything, but it might be even better. Is it the best season? If not, it's definitely among the top two. Let others decide which is better at the end.
