Alanya's international tourism transportation network continues to expand. Direct flights from Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan, to Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport (GZP) have officially commenced. This new route directly connects the Central Asian market to Alanya and marks a significant step towards diversifying the regional tourism market.
The flight schedules, operated by FlyArystan, the Kazakh airline, have been finalized. Flights from Almaty to Gazipaşa-Alanya will operate twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays from May 13 to October 24, 2026. Flights from the capital Astana to Gazipaşa-Alanya will run on Mondays and Thursdays from May 11 to October 22, 2026.
The direct flights, which shorten travel time and provide great comfort for tourists, are expected to bring noticeable dynamism to the accommodation facilities and local economy in the region during the summer season. Alanya Tourism Promotion Foundation (ALTAV) spokesperson Alper Gencelli, evaluating the strategic importance of these direct flights from the Kazakh market for Alanya tourism, stated: "The direct flights from Almaty to Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport are a valuable threshold for the accessibility of our regional tourism. This air bridge we've established with Kazakhstan, one of the most dynamic markets in Central Asia, is a concrete manifestation of the market diversification strategy we have been focusing on for a long time. Expanding our airport's international flight network directly enhances Alanya's competitive power and has a positive impact on tourism revenues. As ALTAV, we will meticulously continue our promotional efforts in the relevant market to support the occupancy rates of these flights and ensure a steady increase in their frequency."
DIVERSIFICATION OF TOURISM MARKETS
Alongside traditional European markets, the increasing number of direct flights from alternative markets such as Central Asia aligns with Alanya's policy of risk distribution and opening up to different geographies in tourism. The goal is also to accelerate the cultural and tourism exchange between the two regions through the Almaty flights.
This move is a game-changer for Alanya's tourism, opening up a whole new market. But will it be enough to keep up with the competition from other popular Mediterranean destinations? Let's see how it pans out over the summer season.
