After Two Decades: Levski and CSKA Celebrate Together
After years of anticipation, Levski and CSKA have once again brought joy to their fans, making this season one of the most memorable in Bulgarian football over the last two decades. For the first time in 20 years, both giants have ended the season with trophies. The last time both clubs achieved this was in 2006 when Levski won the championship and CSKA secured the Bulgarian Cup.
Levski's Triumph and CSKA's Victory
This season, the "Blues" put an end to a 17-year wait for the title, winning their 27th championship. The team secured first place several rounds before the end of the season, ending Ludogorets' long-standing dominance. On the other hand, CSKA also brought joy to its fans by defeating Lokomotiv (Plovdiv) in the final of the Sesame Bulgarian Cup, lifting the trophy for the first time in five years.
A Symbolic Return to the Top
This is only the fourth time in the 21st century that Levski and CSKA have won trophies in the same season. Aside from the current campaign and 2006, the two clubs achieved this in 2005, when CSKA became champions and Levski won the Bulgarian Cup, and in 2003, with the "Reds" winning the championship and the "Blues" securing the cup. The current season will undoubtedly be remembered as a symbolic return of the two most successful clubs in Bulgarian football to the top.
This is huge for Bulgarian football! Levski and CSKA's joint triumphs are a sign of a healthy, competitive league. Can this success story continue, or will we see a return to dominance by other clubs? Time will tell!
