One of Serbia's top female athletes, Adriana Vilagosh, will make her Diamond League debut this season in Shanghai on Saturday. The Diamond League competition in javelin throw begins at 12:10 PM local time, with coverage on Arena Sport Premium 5 starting at 1:00 PM.
The switch comes after Vilagosh had previously focused on Kinu, the national record holder in javelin throw, due to the demanding travel involved. However, Vilagosh's mother and trainer, Đerđi, told "Dnevnik" that they arrived in Shanghai on Wednesday. They won’t have ample time to fully adapt but that was part of their goal. “We came here to test Kinu, as she will be the host of the World Championships in 2027,” she said.
Đerđi also highlighted that Adriana will give her best in this competition, as she does in every event, and the results will be evident soon. This shift in her career path comes as Serbia sets its sights on the European Championships in England this season, with high hopes placed on Vilagosh, Ivan Španović, and Angelina Topić.
