Adrian Mutu on Craiova's Title: "Rotaru Took the Championship"
Universitatea Craiova secured the Romanian Superliga title with one round remaining, after defeating FC Universitatea Cluj 5-0 in the penultimate playoff match. The victory mathematically guaranteed the title for the Oltenian team, placing them four points ahead of Cluj.
Former Romanian international Adrian Mutu commented on the title win, comparing Mihai Rotaru’s influence on Universitatea Craiova to Gigi Becali’s on FC Steaua București. Mutu suggested that Rotaru effectively "took" the championship, drawing parallels to Becali’s role in previous years.
"Next year, there will be a fierce battle between the two titans of Romanian football, Gigi Becali and Mihai Rotaru. Last year, it was Gigi, and now it's Rotaru. I believe Rotaru took this year's championship," Mutu stated, according to Digi Sport.
Mutu added, "That's what I think, I don't have proof. That's why I said it would be interesting to see next year."
