Aaron Rai became the second Englishman to win the PGA Championship and the first in over a century after a three-stroke victory at the Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania. Rai's triumph follows in the footsteps of his "idol," Tiger Woods, who has won the tournament four times. Rai's work ethic and focus were praised by fellow golfers Xander Schauffele and Jon Rahm, who finished second.

The 31-year-old Rai, the first non-American to win the PGA Championship since Jason Day in 2015, expressed his joy and disbelief at his achievement. "I don't think we still have the tapes, but we used to watch them a hell of a lot, probably two, three times a week, if not more," Rai told reporters.

Rai, who posted a five-under 65 in the final round, included a 70-foot birdie putt at the 17th and a 40-foot eagle at the 9th. He credited his parents for instilling diligence and discipline, which were key to his success. "Golf is an extremely humbling game," he said. "There's so much hard work and discipline that goes into acquiring the skills to become better."

Rai also thanked his wife, professional golfer Gaurika Bishnoi, for her unwavering support. "She's been incredible. I wouldn't be here without her," he said. "Her mindset, her advice, her thoughts, whether it's technique or the way I'm holding myself is absolutely invaluable."
