There will be no parade on May 6, Georgi Paskov Day, due to the country's extended budget constraints. Deputy Minister of Defense Aтанас Zapryanov stated that they cannot organize a large parade with the necessary equipment and personnel. As a result, the event will be limited to a ceremony for the military flags.
Financial Constraints Limit Military Parade
Deputy Minister of Defense Aтанас Zapryanov addressed the issue to BNT, explaining the financial limitations that prevent the organization of a significant parade on Georgi Paskov Day. This date marks the anniversary of the Bulgarian army, a day traditionally celebrated with military parades and ceremonies.
Zapryanov expressed hope that the new government and the incoming minister would find solutions to improve the situation. Georgi Paskov Day, named after a prominent Bulgarian military leader, is a national holiday that commemorates the day the Bulgarian army was formed in 1878.
The lack of a large-scale parade underscores the financial pressures faced by the Bulgarian government. Despite the absence of a traditional parade, the ceremony for the military flags will still honor the significance of the day.
