LUKA VUŠKOVIĆ concluded his loan spell with HSV, a period remembered as one of the most successful in the club's history. The 19-year-old defender's talent shone through as he was cheered by the fans upon leaving the field after HSV's last home game of the season. Speaking to German media about his departure from Hamburg, Vušković shared his emotions.
The young footballer admits to mixed feelings about leaving Hamburg. "I am sad. On the one hand, I am happy because a lot was achieved in Hamburg that was agreed upon with Tottenham. But on the other hand, I am sad because I would have liked to stay here," Vušković stated.
Unfulfilled Dream and Return to London
He added that it was particularly difficult not to achieve one of his biggest desires: "It is known that I wanted to play for HSV with my brother Mario. But in football, you can't have everything you want." Despite his sadness, his future is clear: "Starting from this summer, I will once again be a Tottenham player."
Vušković's performances were impressive, as evidenced by statistics. He led the league with a 69.9% success rate in duels and a 74% success rate in aerial duels. With six goals, he was the league's most productive defender. This made him the first HSV defender since the 1990/91 season to score so many goals in a single season, following in the footsteps of Dietmar Beiersdorfer.
Luka Vušković's journey with HSV was truly inspiring, but seeing him go back to Tottenham without playing with his brother is heartbreaking. Can he still find the magic in the Premier League?
