A Serbian Triumph in Greece
The bronze-level continental series meet held in the Greek city of Alexandria proved to be a highly successful outing for Serbian athletics. Four out of the six Serbian representatives managed to finish in the top three of their respective events, showcasing the depth and current form of the national squad heading into the outdoor season.
The standout performer of the day was undoubtedly Marko Vlahovic. Competing at the Yorgos Pantos Memorial, Vlahovic delivered a commanding performance in the long jump, clearing 7.92 meters to claim victory. This impressive mark represents a new personal best for the athlete, signaling that he is in excellent shape and ready for major challenges ahead. The member of ZAK Atletikus demonstrated consistency and power, leaving the competition in his wake.
Vlahovic’s winning leap was sufficient to edge out Samuel Kogali from Great Britain, who finished second with 7.78 meters. Andreas Mahalekides from Cyprus took the bronze medal with a jump of 7.75 meters. The well-known Macedonian athlete Andreas Trajkovski rounded out the top four with a mark of 7.69 meters. Another Serbian long jumper, Aleksandar Micic, also competed in the event, finishing in seventh place with a jump of 7.43 meters.
Podium Finishes for Track and Field Stars
Success was not limited to the long jump pit. Serbia’s national record holder in the 60m hurdles, Anja Lukic, used this competition to officially kick off her outdoor season. She secured a second-place finish in the 100m hurdles, clocking an impressive time of 13.42 seconds. This performance suggests she is well-prepared for the upcoming international calendar.
Two more Serbian athletes added to the team’s tally with third-place finishes. Aleksandra Mitrovic claimed bronze in the triple jump with a leap of 13.40 meters, building on the momentum from her personal best set last year. Meanwhile, sprinter Milan Tirnanic took third place in the 100m dash, crossing the line in 11.57 seconds.
Rounding out the Serbian contingent was Sara Lukic, the twin sister of Anja. She competed in the long jump, recording a distance of 6.05 meters to finish in tenth position. The overall results from Alexandria highlight a strong start to the season for Serbian athletics, with multiple athletes achieving personal milestones and securing valuable ranking points.
