Universitatea Craiova secured the Superliga title with a decisive 5-0 victory over U Cluj on Sunday, leading to an exuberant celebration in Oltenia. The team's supporters celebrated at the "Ion Oblemenco" stadium, where the event lasted around an hour and a half. Afterward, the festivities moved to a local restaurant, where the celebration continued until dawn.
The team's players, including veteran Alex Crețu, were seen dancing and enjoying the traditional lăutari music. Crețu, who had a standout performance in the match, was particularly active throughout the celebration, wearing the championship medal around his neck.
Vladimir Screciu, another standout player, expressed his joy and disbelief at the team's achievements, which included winning the Cup and the championship. "It's a dream to experience such moments here, with my heart team, Universitatea Craiova. I'm especially happy that we've made the fans happy, this city has suffered a lot, 35 years without a championship title," he said.
The Superliga podium is now set: Universitatea Craiova is the champion, U Cluj will secure second place, and CFR Cluj will end in third.
This win is a dream come true for Craiova after 35 years of waiting! The team's celebration with lautari is a beautiful blend of tradition and joy. Can we see more of these cultural sports celebrations in the future?
