The football club Varteks is expected to play its home matches on its own ground in Hrašćica starting from the next season, following the completion of a new investment of around 260,000 euros in the renovation of the field and supporting infrastructure, announced on Monday.

Total Investment Near a Million Euros

The mayor of Varaždin, Neven Bosilj, and deputy president of NK Varteks, Bernard Toplak, toured the works, which included the modernization of the main field with the latest turf, player and referee areas, protective fencing, nets, traffic lights, automatic irrigation, and the surrounding area.

As Bosilj emphasized, NK Varteks is one of the best organized and committed clubs, which does not expect the city to do everything, but actively participates with its own efforts, resources, and free time. He added that the ongoing investment of an additional 260,000 euros, following previous municipal investments in the stands and lighting, totals nearly a million euros.

"This Club Deserves It"

"This club certainly deserves it, as they have many supporters and are members of the second Croatian Football League," Bosilj stated. He noted that Varteks has been playing its home matches at NK Sloboda's stadium and highlighted that the club should obtain a license to play on its own ground from the next season.

"I hope that this field will be the guarantee of new victories and successes for NK Varteks. This is a stadium that can be licensed for the highest level of competition in the Republic of Croatia," Bosilj concluded.

Deputy president of the club, Bernard Toplak, described the investments as a "big and decisive moment" for the club. "This opens many great opportunities for us to truly develop as a club and continue to grow because we have many plans," Toplak said. He added that the club gathers many young footballers and needs new fields and additional support for further development.
