Tavi Popescu, the 23-year-old midfielder who has been a consistent starter and key performer for FCSB in the last four matches, has been dropped from the first 11. The decision comes after an unfortunate incident where he accidentally injured goalkeeper Matei Popa (19).

Following a period of form slump, Tavi made a strong return in April. In the 5th round of the play-out, he provided a crucial pass in the 3-2 victory over Farul. At home against Petrolul in the 6th round, Tavi scored one of the three goals for his team. His performance continued to impress in the away game against Csikszereda Miercurea Ciuc, where he was the only player praised by the team’s owner, Gigi Becali, despite a 0-1 loss.

Even in the recent draw against Unirea Slobozia, Tavi was one of the few players to create danger for the opposition before being substituted at halftime. Unfortunately, his return to form is now interrupted due to the injury incident involving Matei Popa. As a result, he is being replaced by Alexandru Stoian, who meets the U21 regulation eligibility.

FCSB is set to face FC Hermannstadt on May 18th at 20:30 in the final round of the Superliga play-out. Should they progress, they will play the first playoff match against FC Botoșani on May 23 or 24. If they win, they will face the 4th place team from the play-off in a final playoff match on May 29.

The pressure to score in these upcoming matches will fall on the young shoulders of Alexandru Stoian, who has 5 goals and provided a decisive pass in 25 matches this season.
