The 2026 edition of the Taklimakan Rally has commenced in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, marking the longest race route in the event's history. This year's rally will cover approximately 7,500 kilometers, including 3,400 kilometers of special stages. Over 299 competitors from around the world and 152 vehicles, including nine trucks, will take part in the race. Among the participants are 28 international pilots from eight countries, with the Russian Kamaz Master team making its debut in the competition.
The race will pass through various regions and conclude in Aksu on June 1. Organizers describe the Taklimakan Rally as a vital international platform for off-road sports and preparation for other prestigious events such as the Dakar Rally.
