A Swedish fraudster who allegedly posed as Lady Gaga's manager was arrested in central Athens after scamming the owner of a luxury Airbnb property. Greek media, which published footage of the arrest, reported that the man had been on the radar of Swedish police for serious money laundering charges for some time. The Swedish authorities had sought international cooperation because the suspect had no fixed address.

Investigations revealed that in Greece, where he had been residing since at least January, the man pretended to be the manager of well-known personalities such as Lady Gaga and 50 Cent, as well as an alleged ambassador for an unnamed global alcohol brand. The fraud began when he rented a luxurious apartment near the Acropolis through the Airbnb platform for five days. After his stay, he requested an extension directly from the owner, as the apartment had been reserved for another guest. The owner offered him a more expensive apartment and they agreed on a price of 6,350 euros, with payment to be made via bank transfer. At this point, the Swede provided a fake receipt from a Swedish bank, which did not match the bank account details exchanged. When confronted, the situation escalated, leading to a physical altercation, which the Greek host reported to the police.

Motorcycle police quickly apprehended the suspect, who attempted to flee. The investigation showed that he had scammed people in other European countries, including Belgium, Romania, and Luxembourg, using the same methods. Interpol was also tracking him for money laundering and financial fraud, with estimates of over 300,000 euros in damages. Investigators are now checking if he had other victims in Greece using similar tactics—false identities and fabricated connections to global celebrities.
