Serbian Minister Assures No Freeze on EU Funds
Serbian Minister of European Integration, Nebojsa Stankovic, has affirmed that there is no freeze on European Union financial assistance for Serbia, stating that the European Commission has officially confirmed this. However, continuous monitoring of the criteria for fund disbursement remains in place.
In an interview with Serbian public television RTV, Stankovic elaborated on the assurances provided by the European Commission regarding the ongoing support for Serbia's financial needs. This comes as a significant relief to Serbia, which is in the process of pursuing its EU integration goals and relies on these funds to support various development projects.
The continuous monitoring by the European Commission is a standard practice to ensure that Serbia meets the necessary criteria for the disbursement of funds. These criteria are designed to facilitate Serbia's progress towards EU membership by promoting reforms and development in key sectors.
Stankovic's confirmation is expected to ease concerns among Serbian officials and the public about potential disruptions in the flow of EU financial assistance, which plays a crucial role in the country's economic and political development.
