Sorana Cîrstea, 36, who is in her final year of competition, has climbed to 18th in the WTA rankings, her best position ever.
Following her semifinal appearance in Rome, Sorana has risen nine places and now has 1,985 points. Her previous best was 21st in August 2013.
At present, Sorana ranks higher than notable players such as Madison Keys, Elise Mertens, and Jelena Ostapenko.
