The Italian Grand Tour, Giro d'Italia, will pass through Sofia on May 10, 2026, along the Samokovsko Shose, Tsarigradsko Shose, and Tsar Osvoboditel boulevards, ending at the Narodno Sborenie Square. As a result, the Sofia Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety (SDVR) has announced traffic changes in the city.

Starting from 15:00 on May 9, 2026:

  • Parking will be prohibited near the Tsar Osvoboditel monument.
  • Parking will be prohibited on 15 Noemvri Street, from Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevard to Oborishche Street.

From 19:00 on May 9 until 06:00 on May 11, 2026:

  • Vehicle traffic will be prohibited on Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevard, from Vasil Levski Boulevard to G. S. Rakovski Street.
  • Vehicle traffic will be prohibited on Narodno Sborenie Square.
  • Vehicle traffic will be prohibited on 15 Noemvri Street.
  • Vehicle traffic will be prohibited on the stretch behind Alexander Nevsky Square.
  • Vehicle traffic will be prohibited on 19 February Street.

On the competition day, Sunday, May 10, 2026:

From 00:00 to 04:30, technical activities will take place along the entire Giro route in Sofia.

From 04:00, the following streets will be closed to vehicle traffic:

  • Oborishche Street, from Alexander Nevsky Square to Vasil Levski Boulevard.
  • 11 Avgust Street, from Moskovska Street to Alexander Nevsky Square.
  • Dunav Street, from Moskovska Street to Alexander Nevsky Square.
  • Moskovska Street, from Gina Kuncheva Square to G. S. Rakovski Street.

From 06:00 to 23:00, the following streets will be closed to vehicle traffic:

  • Oborishche Street, from Alexander Nevsky Square to Vasil Levski Boulevard.
  • Alexander Nevsky Square, north of Oborishche Street.
  • Dunav Street, from Moskovska Street to Alexander Nevsky Square.
  • 11 Avgust Street, from Moskovska Street to Alexander Nevsky Square.
  • Moskovska Street, from Gina Kuncheva Square to G. S. Rakovski Street.
  • General Gurko Street, from Vasil Levski Boulevard to Evlogi and Hristo Georgiev Boulevards.

From 12:00 to 22:00, the following streets will be closed to vehicle traffic:

  • Vasil Levski Boulevard, from Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevard to General Gurko Street.
  • Evlogi and Hristo Georgiev Boulevards, from General Gurko Street to Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevard, in both directions.
  • Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevard, from Vasil Levski Boulevard to Evlogi and Hristo Georgiev Boulevards.
  • Tsarigradsko Shose Boulevard, from Evlogi and Hristo Georgiev Boulevards to Dimitar Peshev Street.
  • Samokovsko Shose Road, from the split at Gorни Oкол km 49+250 to Kopenhagen Boulevard.

From 21:00 on May 10 until 06:00 on May 11, 2026:

  • Traffic on General Gurko Street will be restricted to mass transport vehicles.
  • Movement of vehicles and pedestrians, as well as flying drones, will be absolutely prohibited along the Giro route and its finish line.
  • Police will enforce the law without compromise.

Traffic will be gradually restored after the event.
