Sofia's Emergency Response Team (SPEE) has assumed responsibility for the medical coverage of the Giro d'Italia cycling event scheduled for 2026. The emergency crews recently arrived in Sunny Beach for a meeting with the Italian organizers before heading to Nesebar, where the tour will start the following day.
The SPEE has dispatched four tripartite resuscitation teams, each comprising a doctor, a nurse, and a driver, to ensure that the cyclists and spectators receive prompt medical attention during the event. This strategic deployment is aimed at providing comprehensive and efficient healthcare support across the various locations of the Giro d'Italia.
The Giro d'Italia, one of the most prestigious cycling tours in the world, is set to attract thousands of participants and spectators to Bulgaria. The event will not only showcase the country's scenic routes but also its readiness to host large-scale international sporting events. The medical teams from Sofia are a testament to the robust emergency response infrastructure in place, ensuring the safety and well-being of all involved.
