Sofia is the frontrunner to host Eurovision in 2027, thanks to its extensive hotel capacity, international airport, and the suitable Arena Sofia venue.

  • Hotel capacity: 14,798 rooms and 31,386 beds
  • Arena Sofia venue capacity: 15,000 to 17,900 spectators for concerts
  • Vasil Levski International Airport: Projected to handle 8.4 million passengers in 2025, averaging 200 flights daily and accommodating large aircraft.

The capital is well-equipped with the largest hotel capacity in the country, the biggest international airport, and a suitable indoor venue. The city's hotel market includes 3,033 properties, with 2,759 being Class B properties such as vacation rentals available through platforms like Airbnb. These properties offer 8,703 beds, surpassing the number of beds in four-star hotels for the first time in the past year. Overall, Sofia has 14,798 rooms and 31,386 beds available.

The most suitable indoor venue for hosting “Eurovision 2027” is Arena Sofia. The venue can accommodate between 15,000 and 17,900 spectators for concerts, depending on stage setup and standing room.

“Sofia has demonstrated its ability to host major events, such as the Giro d'Italia. The organizers stated this was the strongest opening stage of the event outside Italy in 25 years,” said Mayor Vasil Terziev, who made it clear that the city would compete to host Eurovision in 2027. The choice of host city, however, lies with the state.

Varna aims to host Eurovision as the birthplace of Dara, with 12,000 beds and a capacity of 5,100 seats at the Varna Sports Hall. The city has a strong cultural heritage, tourist potential, and established international presence, according to Mayor Blagomir Kozev. While the capacity is below the 10,000 spectator requirement, Varna has a robust hotel and transport infrastructure and is close to the Zlatni Piasaci and Saints Constantine and Helena resorts.

Burgas boasts the most modern arena and numerous resorts, though details are not provided in the initial article.
