Former world No. 1 tennis player Simona Halep (34) has signed a contract and is now the new brand ambassador for the Romanian airline AnimaWings, described as "an ambitious private Romanian project." According to a company statement, AnimaWings will operate over 50 routes this summer with its fleet of eight modern aircraft. Halep has also agreed to be part of the Sports Festival Cluj-Napoca, where she will play her farewell exhibition match on May 13.
In a statement at the event announcing her appointment as the company's ambassador, Halep expressed her excitement about the partnership: "I hope we can help this company reach the world. I am very happy with this collaboration, which I accepted with great emotion and confidence."
Halep added, "I have flown with AnimaWings many times and really appreciated the care for passengers and the desire to make our flight as pleasant as possible. Now, little by little, I am starting to fly with pleasure and hope that it will be the same all over the world with AnimaWings. Much success in everything we will do and I hope it will be as good as possible."
The decision by AnimaWings to have Halep as their brand ambassador is due to her significant name recognition, making her a true ambassador for Romania. Marius Pandel, CEO and co-founder of AnimaWings, stated, "Simona Halep is one of the strongest symbols of performance and professionalism in Romania and we are delighted that she has agreed to be with AnimaWings at this extremely important stage for the company."
AnimaWings aims to connect Romania with popular European tourist destinations and will also serve communities of Romanians abroad, departing from major cities in the country. Regular flights will cover important European destinations such as Paris, Geneva, Munich, and London from Bucharest, and Athens from Timișoara and Cluj-Napoca. Starting May 29, there will be a route to Milan from Bucharest, and from July, Cluj-Napoca will be connected to Vienna and Frankfurt, and Timișoara to Copenhagen and Rotterdam. Starting in August, Bucharest will have flights to Rotterdam and Strasbourg.
Simona Halep's partnership with AnimaWings is a win-win for both parties. It's great to see a Romanian sports icon promoting the country's growing aviation industry. Can this collaboration boost AnimaWings' visibility and performance in the competitive European market?
