Serbians Flock to the "Mystery Island" Near Sjenica

The majestic Uvca Canyon near Sjenica, Serbia, is attracting increasing numbers of domestic and foreign tourists each year. This destination has become particularly popular for its wild and untouched areas. One particular wall in the middle of the water has been nicknamed the "mystery island" by locals and tour guides.

"Recently, there has been a significant demand for wildlife tours where nature lovers and photographers can experience and photograph the natural beauty and wildlife," says a licensed tourist and wildlife tour guide. "I went hiking with a group of wildlife photographers, where we encountered an interesting part of Uvca near the fortress, and I had the idea to take pictures and create a video while the song 'Monotonija' by Ceca was playing in my head."

The guide emphasizes that during the visit to this extraordinary location, nothing was left to chance, and he brought his own mats to sit on while staying on the "mystery island," where he says he recharged his batteries well.

"I also brought traditional mats as a unique touch," he adds. He urges tourists visiting Uvca to not take things into their own hands but to report all their activities to the reserve. The group did so beforehand to obtain approval from the management.

Rural tourism is becoming increasingly popular in the Sjenica area, with an increasing number of locals opening their homes to guests from all over the world. The rich cultural and historical heritage is also a significant draw for visitors who are increasingly choosing this part of Serbia for their vacation.
