The Serbian handball team successfully defended their victory against Hungary from the previous match in Niš and lost by just one goal in a rematch in Veszprém, advancing to the 2027 World Championship in Germany.

Captain Mijajlo Marsenić had ample reason for satisfaction. As the second-oldest player on the team, he was visibly delighted after the match concluded.

"I am the happiest captain in the world. I’ve won the Champions League and the Bundesliga, but this ranks equally. We believed and fought for every ball. Thank you to the journalists for following us, it’s not easy for you either. Big thanks to our fans. I could only hear them," Marsenić said, as reported by Mozzart Sport.

The Serbian team’s strategy of playing without a goalkeeper towards the end of the game was particularly noteworthy.

"We didn’t play some situations well in the finishing, but we were fantastic in defense. I’m proud of our young players. I told them to trust Raul Gonzales, who is the best coach in the world. We deserved to have one victory after so many losses by one goal. This is a huge boost for us, we will enjoy this for a while, and then we will show what we know in Germany," Marsenić added.
