Norris Dominates Miami Qualifying Ahead of Sprint Race

McLaren’s Lando Norris secured his second pole position of the season with a commanding performance in qualifying for the Miami Grand Prix sprint race, outpacing Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz by over 0.3 seconds.

The British driver set a blistering lap of 1:26.231 in Q3, nearly half a second faster than Sainz’s second-place time, while teammate Oscar Piastri completed the front row in third. Norris’ pace was unmatched, with his first Q3 run already enough to lock in the top spot.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, the reigning world champion, struggled with balance and could only manage sixth, while teammate Sergio Pérez qualified in eighth. Mercedes’ George Russell and Lewis Hamilton rounded out the top ten in seventh and tenth, respectively.

Norris’ pole position marks a strong rebound after his disappointing finish in Azerbaijan, where he retired due to a steering issue. The British driver will start the sprint race from the front, with the main Grand Prix set for Sunday.

Qualifying saw several incidents, including a heavy crash from AlphaTauri’s Daniel Ricciardo, who walked away unharmed. The sprint race promises high drama as Norris aims to convert his pole into a victory.
