Romanian Driver Claims Pole Position in Formula 4 at Vallelunga
Romanian driver David Cosma Cristofor secured pole position for the first of three Formula 4 races this weekend at Vallelunga Circuit in Italy, marking a strong start to the season. Cristofor, signed with Prema Racing, has shown consistent performance since the start of the season two weeks ago, finishing in second place twice at the Misano World Circuit and currently holding third place in the overall standings.
Outstanding Performance
Competing in qualifying groups B and C, the 16-year-old driver achieved the fastest time, finishing in 1:34.523. He edged out Finland’s Luka Sammalisto from German team US Racing by just 4 hundredths of a second to claim pole position. Overall, Cristofor secured the second-fastest time among all drivers, with Spain’s Edu Robinson setting the fastest lap at 1:34.378. In the second race, scheduled for the same day, Cristofor will start in second place.
Season Goals
This is the second time Cristofor has secured pole position on the Vallelunga circuit in his career. “To achieve pole position twice in a row on the same circuit is obviously very pleasant. I am very happy about this. Last year, the conditions were slightly different, and I am very pleased that I managed to put together a good lap. My goal for this year is, of course, to win the championship, but for now, I am working on improving areas where I still need progress, and things are going very well,” Cristofor stated after qualifying.
The first race is scheduled to start at 12:40 PM local time, with Cristofor starting from pole position. The second race, where Cristofor will start second, is set to begin at 7:00 PM. The final race will take place on Sunday at 4:45 PM, featuring only the top 36 drivers. All participating drivers are competing in the Tatuus F4-T421 monopost. Established in 2014, the Italian Formula 4 Championship has produced several top drivers, including Mick Schumacher, Kimi Antonelli, and Lando Norris.
Cristofor chiar a făcut impresia, dar îmi păstrez optimismul până când câștigă cel puțin o cursă.
