The Romanian documentary "Delta Sǎlbaticǎ/Wild Delta" is set to premiere at the Reduta Cultural Center in Brașov during the LYNX Festival on June 5. This large-scale production, the first of its kind in Romania, focuses on the unique biodiversity of the Danube Delta.
Five-Year Journey
Directed by Dan Dinu, the film was shot over five years and explores the rich landscapes and wildlife of the UNESCO World Heritage site. The narrative is centered on water, a symbolic element in the Delta that represents life itself.
Voiced by Medeea Marinescu
Romanian actress Medeea Marinescu lends her voice to the documentary, bringing the story to life with emotion and depth. “The encounter with Delta Sǎlbaticǎ was one of the most meaningful experiences of recent times. I had no idea how I would give a voice to water, how I would turn it into a storytelling character, and make it breathe,” said Marinescu.
Behind the Scenes
Dinu co-wrote the screenplay with Codruța Florea, while cinematography was handled by Cosmin Dumitrache and the soundtrack was composed by Alexei Țurcan. “It was not easy, but we managed to capture so much footage that it became a challenge to find the narrative thread. After six months of editing, our film is finally ready to be seen by the public,” stated Dinu.
Environmental Commitment
The production team received support from environmental NGOs and specialists, ensuring that the film was made under ethical conditions that minimized impact on the Delta's wildlife and habitats.
Advance reservations for the free premiere are available from May 18 via iaBilet.ro. The LYNX Festival, Romania’s only festival dedicated to nature photography and documentary film, will run from June 1 to June 7 in Brașov, featuring screenings, exhibitions, educational activities, and masterclasses.
