Lamont Roach Jr. and William Sepeda are set to clash in Las Vegas on August 1 in a bid to claim the vacant WBC lightweight title. Both fighters have previously fallen short of championship success, with Roach Jr. narrowly missing out and Sepeda suffering a tough loss to Shakur Stevenson last year.

On Friday, www.boxingscene.com confirmed that the former super featherweight champion Lamont Roach Jr. (25-1-3, 10 KOs) and Mexican contender William Sepeda (33-1, 27 KOs) have agreed to a match. The fight will mark Sepeda's first bout in nearly a year, following his loss to Stevenson last July.

Roach Jr., who is now part of "ProBoxTV" after previously competing for "Golden Boy," has come close to winning a second title. In March 2025, he narrowly missed out on a win when referee Steve Willis did not award a knockdown against WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis in New York. The fight ended in a draw. Roach Jr. also drew with former 63 kg champion Isak "Pitbull" Cruz in Texas in December, after being knocked down in the third round.

According to sources familiar with the deal, the location for the August 1 fight has not been finalized, but the Mandalay Bay is the most likely venue.
