A young man from Grabovice near Kuršumlija had his arm severed by a baling machine. After a quick decision by Uranija Petrović, the director of Kuršumlija Health Center, he was rushed to the University Clinical Center in Niš for emergency surgery.
Normally, the Kuršumlija emergency service is responsible for transporting patients to Prokuplje. However, given the severity of the young man's injuries, Petrović decided to transport him to Niš. The prompt reaction of the medical staff and the ambulance driver, as well as the director's decision, were crucial in ensuring the young man received the necessary tertiary medical care.
The surgery, which took place at the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Clinic at the University Clinical Center in Niš, lasted seven hours. The medical team, led by Prof. Dr. Predrag Kovačević, successfully reattached the severed part of the young man's arm.
The patient is currently in the intensive care unit, where his condition is being closely monitored. Although his health parameters are somewhat stabilized, he remains in a life-threatening condition due to the severity of his injury.
