Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented today on the ongoing debates in Europe about how to engage with Russia, stating that European leaders can reach out to Russian President Vladimir Putin by phone. Peskov also did not rule out the possibility that ordinary citizens might see Putin driving in the neighboring lane on the road.

Peskov stated, "All these debates are floating in the air, but Putin is as close as a telephone receiver."

He expressed hope that a pragmatic approach would prevail in Europe and lead to a tangible outcome. "The Russian side will be ready for that," Peskov emphasized.

"Kaja Kalas Won't Have an Easy Task"

Peskov also commented on the European Union's chief diplomat, Kaja Kallas, stating that it is in her interest not to be a negotiator with Russia. He noted, "Kaja Kallas doesn't want to be a negotiator. It won't be easy for her. As you may recall, Vladimir Putin said that it could be anyone who hasn't said too many bad things about Russia."

Putin previously stated that Moscow views any EU leader who hasn't said much about Russia negatively as a potential negotiator.

"Theoretically, People Could See Him Driving on the Road"

Peskov did not rule out the possibility of Putin being seen driving in the neighboring lane on the road. Putin recently visited his former teacher, Vera Gurevič, in a hotel where she was staying in Moscow and invited her for dinner, according to RIA Novosti.
