Recovery of Road Near Pamporovo to Take at Least a Year After Landslide

The road near Pamporovo, a popular ski resort in Bulgaria, will require at least a year for full recovery after a significant landslide. The area affected is close to Rайковски Ливади, where a massive earth mass fell, necessitating the search for alternative detour routes.

Experts from the Smolyan Regional Road Administration and engineer Kalin Kalchev, a Sofia-based project designer, are currently conducting an assessment of the damage. This initial inspection is crucial for determining the extent of the repairs needed and planning the necessary steps to restore the road.

The landslide poses a significant challenge to both local residents and tourists who regularly visit the area. Pamporovo, known for its winter sports and scenic beauty, relies heavily on this road for accessibility. The prolonged disruption could affect the local tourism industry, which is a vital part of the region's economy.

While the recovery efforts are expected to take at least a year, the search for alternative routes is a priority to ensure continued access to the region. The involvement of experts in the assessment process ensures that the solutions implemented will be both effective and sustainable.
