SubscribeBulgaria's Minister of Culture, Evtim Milev, revealed on the BNT program "The Day Begins" that Plovdiv's mayor, Kostadin Dimitrov, called him early this morning to inquire whether the decision on the host city for Eurovision 2027 had been made, as his intentions were serious. This makes Plovdiv the third city to bid for the honor after Varna and Burgas.
"The host is BNT through its membership in EBU – the European Broadcasting Union. However, the Council of Ministers is also backing Bulgaria's participation, and we will soon establish a preparation task force for hosting the event. My meeting with BNT's Managing Director Milena Milotinova is scheduled for later today," said Milev.
Milev shared his experience as an independent producer, having participated in organizing the Kids Eurovision in 2015. "The scale here is incomparably larger, but I've walked this path before," he added.
This is huge news! Plovdiv has always been a cultural gem, but Eurovision could put it on the map for good. Will the other cities back down, or is Bulgaria about to get a bit more competitive? Let's see who comes out on top!
