PAOK is closely watching the major changes Euroleague is preparing and is seriously considering entering the new Franchise model. The club is determined to actively participate in the new model that will shape European basketball starting from 2027. The upcoming season is expected to proceed with the current 20-team format, but initial moves for the new era are already underway. Euroleague has initiated contacts with clubs interested in securing a permanent place in the new closed model, with PAOK among those officially expressing their intent to participate.

The plan envisions an increase in the number of participating teams to 22 or even 24, with 18 having permanent inclusion through Franchise and the remaining spots filled via wild cards. The financial commitment is substantial, with participation costs estimated to range from 60 to 80 million euros, including a significant upfront payment and long-term installment. PAOK is not alone in the market; Partizan, Red Star, Paris, and Dynamo are also in discussions with Euroleague. The new model is expected to completely alter the map of European basketball in the coming years.

The club believes the overall upgrade of the KAE, the project of the new training center, and the economic strength now surrounding the team create a strong foundation for seriously pursuing a place in the organization. Continued discussions with Euroleague officials are anticipated as the club aims to be part of the developments from the outset.
